Astana Opera’s principal dancer and Kazakhstan’s most renowned ballet artist, Bakhtiyar Adamzhan, will perform at the prestigious Roberto Bolle and Friends gala at Dubai Opera on November 6.

An Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan and winner of numerous international competitions, Adamzhan has long collaborated with celebrated Italian étoile Roberto Bolle as part of his global project. The Kazakh dancer has already captivated audiences in Italy, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

Dubai audiences are familiar with Adamzhan from Astana Opera’s tours to the UAE in 2023 and 2024, where he starred as the Nutcracker Prince in Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.

“Together with Teatro alla Scala’s prima ballerina Nicoletta Manni, I will be performing pas de deux from Adolphe Adam’s ballet Le Corsaire. I am already familiar with the UAE audience, and many are writing to say they are eagerly awaiting me at Dubai Opera. As is well known, this country is home to many different nationalities, including Kazakhs, who love ballet and enjoy attending performances".

Before heading to Dubai, Adamzhan took part in the Alina and Friends – World Ballet Star Gala in China at the invitation of Alina Cojocaru, prima ballerina of the Royal Ballet and English National Ballet. Later in November, he will return to the Astana Opera stage as Quasimodo in Roland Petit’s Notre Dame de Paris.

Adamzhan recalls his recent success in China: “The shows at Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts were sold out, and the audiences in Xi’an and Shanghai were just as warm. The organizers said it was rare for Chinese spectators to react so emotionally.”

With more than 30 international flights between July and November alone, Adamzhan’s touring schedule remains relentless. In December, he will perform in Oman as part of Astana Opera’s tour, presenting Roland Petit’s Coppélia at the Royal Opera House Muscat — the same stage where the company triumphed in Swan Lake in 2017.

Today, Bakhtiyar Adamzhan’s name shines on playbills across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, confirming his global acclaim and the rising prestige of Kazakhstan’s ballet art.
