In 2025, libraries across all regions of Kazakhstan received 119 book titles with a total print run of 240,500 copies, QazMonitor reports, citing the Ministry of Culture and Information.
The new acquisitions include the photo album Shokan. A Uniquely Born Phenomenon, a series dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayuly, Mirzhakyp Dulatov’s novel Bakytsyz Jamal, as well as complete collections of works by Ilyas Yesenberlin, Zhumeken Nazhmadenov, Kadyr Myrza Ali, and Tumanbai Moldagaliyev.
As part of international cooperation, a book about Shokan Ualikhanov translated into Italian and English was presented in Rome with the support of the Italian side.
The Ministry of Culture and Information also supported Kazakhstan’s participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair for the second time. A national pavilion was organized, showcasing anniversary editions, including Abai’s Words of Wisdom. A Legacy for Generations, translated into seven languages. The novel Unhappy Jamal received strong international recognition as one of the earliest works of national prose.
Literary promotion continued domestically as well. Representatives of the Ministry took part in international book fairs in Beijing and Guangzhou, presenting works by Kazakh classical and contemporary authors.
Special attention was given to supporting young writers. Under a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Culture and Information and the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, three large-scale projects were implemented to foster a new generation of authors. As a result, 35 fiction and popular science collections were published and distributed to libraries nationwide.
