The Almaty Department of Sports reported on the development of the city’s sports infrastructure. In 2024–2025, six fitness and wellness centers were completed in the metropolis, while two sports facilities were built through private investment. For example, a new tennis center funded by private investors opened in the Alatau district (Nurkent microdistrict). The complex includes four indoor and four outdoor hard courts, as well as six clay courts.

Preparations have begun for the construction of a new football stadium in Almaty. A project for a Rhythmic Gymnastics Center is being developed, and demolition work is underway as part of the reconstruction of the high-altitude Medeu sports complex.

To develop national sports, the Tulpar complex was returned to municipal ownership and transferred under the operational management of the Department of Sports. The facility includes four stables for 100 horses, sports halls, and two open arenas.

By the end of 2027, six new fitness and wellness centers and three sports schools are planned to be built. In the Nurkent microdistrict, a multi-purpose arena with 5,000 seats and a swimming pool is planned.

“The implementation of these projects contributes to strengthening Almaty’s status as the sports capital of Central Asia, developing mass sports, and enhancing the city’s international image,” the Almaty Department of Sports noted.
