Kazakhstan is experiencing a nationwide reading boom, as public libraries across the country report record attendance. Since the beginning of the year, libraries have recorded over 37 million visits, according to the National Library of Kazakhstan.
In the past month alone, nearly 13,000 people visited the National Library in Almaty. The most active group of readers is aged 17 to 25, while nearly 2,000 visitors were over 45. Around 3,000 people registered for the first time.
Readers increasingly turn to classic and fiction literature in Kazakh and other world languages, favoring novels, short stories, and poetry. Interest in Kazakh classics and philosophical works has grown steadily in recent months.
There are currently 3,883 public libraries across Kazakhstan, with over 5.3 million new users joining since the start of the year.
