Kazakhstan’s singer Yenlik has appeared in a new episode of the international music project COLORS, becoming the first artist from Kazakhstan to take part in the show, QazMonitor reports.
For Yenlik, the invitation marked both a professional milestone and a personal achievement. She said participating in COLORS had long seemed unattainable.
“When the invitation arrived, I was so happy that I cried. This project always seemed so distant to me. Two years ago, we sent an application ourselves — without response. But this year, COLORS contacted us themselves.”
According to the artist, the project’s selection process cannot be reduced to clear criteria, as COLORS features performers from different genres and cultures. Yenlik believes the curators’ interest may have been drawn by her music and the Kazakh language as part of a distinct and evolving music scene.
The episode was filmed abroad in a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Despite expectations of a large-scale production, the shoot turned out to be minimalistic, lasting one to two hours. Yenlik noted that the COLORS team was open and supportive throughout the process.
The visual backdrop of the episode is built around a single color, which the singer interprets as a symbol of gentle strength — a state she seeks to convey through her music.
Yenlik’s appearance on COLORS is seen not only as a personal success but also as further evidence that music from Kazakhstan and Central Asia is gaining visibility on the global stage.
