Almaty hosted the Almaty Animation Festival Mini, bringing together about 200 representatives of the animation industry, students, and members of the creative community, QazMonitor reports.

The event gathered around 200 participants, including more than 30 students from Compass College (the Kyrgyz Republic), reflecting growing interest in animation as a developing segment of the creative economy.

The educational program included a storyboard master class by Evgenia Barbakova and a producing session led by Murat Tanirbergen. Participants discussed the stages of creating and promoting animated content, from concept development to commercial release. The Reanimation studio organized a collage animation workshop titled “Snow Leopards in Motion.”

Graduation projects from the ISD Rubika animation school were presented during the festival. The program also featured an animation quiz with seven teams and a mini fair of original works.

A key topic of the professional discussion focused on sustainability in the industry under the theme “How to Survive and Earn in Commercial Animation.” Representatives of Teniz, Netshards Animation, and Petrick Studio shared case studies and discussed opportunities for entering international markets.

Aliya Bekbossynova, Head of Creative Industries Development at Almaty Tourism Bureau, said the festival became an important professional platform for the city’s animation community and demonstrated the potential of local projects.
