Kazakhstan is developing a new E-Densaulyq ecosystem, which will serve as a unified digital platform for healthcare data. At its core will be a Central Medical Data Repository, designed to integrate 17 existing information systems, regardless of their ownership.

According to the Ministry of Healthcare, this integration will give citizens access to their electronic health passports, ensuring that medical data follows the patient — a principle known as “data follows the patient.” The system aims to make healthcare more transparent, efficient, and patient-centered.

Key components of the E-Densaulyq ecosystem include:

  • Population registration system

  • Healthcare resource management (staff, equipment, licenses)

  • Pharmaceutical supply management system

  • Unified medical payment system

The ministry noted that Face ID patient identification technology was introduced in 2024. Currently, 57% of citizens are registered through digital services such as Face ID, Digital ID, or patient code.
