Kazakhstan has expressed readiness to contribute to the development of a Turkic large language model (LLM) that will bring together the AI research capacity of Turkic-speaking nations. The announcement came during a meeting between Zhaslan Madiyev, Kazakhstan’s AI and Digital Minister, and Rashad Nabi oglu Nabiyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport.
Madiyev highlighted Kazakhstan’s growing AI ecosystem, including KazLLM, AlemLLM, and the Alem.Cloud National Supercomputer Center — the region’s largest.
The countries reaffirmed plans to deepen collaboration in AI, digital infrastructure, and startup acceleration, with projects like Qalan, JET, and Sergek Patrol Bus already active in Azerbaijan.
Kazakhstan positions AI as a key national priority, with new legislation, the Alem.AI Center, and partnerships with Google, Apple, Huawei, and Telegram driving the sector’s growth.
