President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan intends to transform into a digital nation within three years, the Akorda press service reports. In his speech at the event dedicated to Republic Day, he emphasized that young entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, and IT specialists are forming the country’s new elite, while innovation is becoming an important trait of the national character.
“Kazakhstan holds high positions in global digitalization indexes. This is, of course, encouraging, but the most important thing is not to rest on our laurels, but to stay in tune with scientific and technological progress in order to develop a modern economy that meets the highest international standards. Therefore, we have declared digitalization and the implementation of artificial intelligence as priorities for the development of the state,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Tokayev emphasized that the country needs to establish a modern ecosystem to support startups and accelerate its transition to a knowledge-based economy, where creativity and innovation will become the main drivers of growth.
“The work has already begun. The first national supercomputer has been launched, another supercomputer is operating at Kazakhtelecom, the AI Sana program has been initiated, and the large-scale Alatau City project has begun. Measures are also being taken to provide legislative support for this extremely important work,” emphasized the Head of State.
