President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in the West Kazakhstan region on a working trip, the press service of Akorda reports.
During this trip, the President will fly over the flooded areas, engage with evacuated residents, and convene a meeting at the operational headquarters to address the emergency situation.
Earlier, presidential spokesman Berik Uali reported on his Facebook page about President Tokayev's plans for a working trip to one of the regions affected by floods.
On April 4, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the floods submerged 1,043 private homes and 298 courtyard areas in Aktobe, Kostanay, Atyrau, Akmola, Pavlodar, and West Kazakhstan regions. Additionally, 691 houses and 1,042 courtyard areas have had melt water pumped out.
A total of 18,945 people, including 8,202 children, have been rescued and evacuated.
Operations have involved pumping out 6.2 million m3 of meltwater, using 728 thousand bags and laying 942 thousand tons of inert material.
Furthermore, 77 road washouts, including four bridges and 73 roadbeds, and 114 road overflows are being monitored.
Presently, 63 settlements are left without transportation communication.
