Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kazakhstan, expressed his condolences on the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, the Akorda press service reports.

On behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and himself, President Tokayev extended his sympathies to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, and the entire Iranian nation following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of President Raisi and several government officials in East Azerbaijan Province.

As previously reported, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash, along with all those accompanying him. The passengers included Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan Province Governor Malik Rahmati, and Ayatollah Ali Hashim of Tabriz Province.

The crash occurred on Sunday in the mountainous region of northwestern Iran, near the borders with Azerbaijan and Turkey. President Raisi was returning from a visit to Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, where he had attended a ceremony with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to commission a dam on the Aras River.
