Third-year students of the Almaty Construction and Technical College — Gabbas Bayazitov, Georgy Shikin, and Nazim Aliyev — have developed a prototype of a “smart greenhouse” that combines automation, sensor control, and artificial intelligence technologies, reports the Ministry of Education.
By integrating IoT devices and specialized software, the greenhouse automatically regulates the microclimate, lighting, and irrigation. AI algorithms analyze data and adjust conditions in real time, increasing efficiency and reducing the need for human intervention.
“This project is the result of the students’ drive for innovation. Under the guidance of vocational training instructors, they demonstrated a high level of technical skills and engineering thinking. During the development process, they studied the agrotechnology market, implemented machine learning algorithms, and found solutions to optimize the greenhouse’s operation,” said project supervisor Sherniyaz Kabdushev.
The greenhouse is equipped with solar panels and can operate even with limited internet access. The students plan to create a mobile app for remote control and to expand the sensor system’s functionality.
