Kazakhstan retains its position as the leading investment destination in Central Asia. According to UNCTAD, of the five major greenfield projects implemented in landlocked countries in 2024, four were carried out in Kazakhstan.
The inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) reached USD 17.2 billion, resulting in 45 new projects and the creation of 6,200 jobs.
Main sectors of inflow:
Mining industry – USD 6.5 billion
Manufacturing – USD 2.8 billion
Trade – USD 5.3 billion
Professional and scientific activities – USD 0.9 billion
Top investors: Russia (USD 4.1 billion), the Netherlands (USD 3.8 billion), South Korea (USD 1.2 billion), Belgium (USD 1.2 billion), and China (USD 1.2 billion).
In the first half of 2025, gross FDI inflows totaled USD 10.1 billion, up 1.1% compared to the same period last year.
The government continues its efforts to attract investment, support business development, and promote economic diversification.
