PM Bektenov, US Officials Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

Talks focused on strengthening ties in trade, energy, and digital innovation as both sides reaffirm partnership goals

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor and First Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. The parties discussed strengthening strategic cooperation with a focus on investment, trade, and technological partnership.

Bektenov emphasized the importance of developing bilateral ties and noted that the United States remains one of Kazakhstan’s largest investors, with American investment reaching USD 61.2 billion since 1993. Over the past five years, mutual trade has doubled to USD 4.2 billion.

The sides reviewed joint projects in industry, energy, agriculture, transport, and the digital sector, including artificial intelligence. Key platforms include the Alem.AI International AI Center and Astana Hub, which bring together global technology companies. Kazakhstan is also developing cooperation through the Silk Road Innovation Center in California.

Both sides confirmed their readiness to expand economic cooperation and launch new initiatives.
