Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozymbayev met in Astana with Kim Bok-hwan, President and CEO of the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KIND).
The meeting followed October talks in Seoul during the Alatau Rise with Kazakhstan roadshow, where Kazakhstan presented the Alatau Smart City project.
Bozymbayev highlighted Korean companies’ support for the initiative and invited KIND to join infrastructure projects in energy, water supply, water treatment, wastewater management and solid waste processing, both under EPC contracts and in a development format. The sides also discussed potential cooperation in logistics and port infrastructure.
Given the partnership potential, the Deputy PM proposed that KIND open an office in Kazakhstan.
Following the talks, the Ministry of Industry and Construction, the Alatau City Authority and KIND signed an MoU on cooperation in developing Alatau Smart City.
