Kazakhstan has expressed serious concern over drone attacks on oil tankers heading to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal in the Black Sea, QazMonitor reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the MFA, three tankers were targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles on January 13, 2026, while en route to the CPC terminal.
"In this regard, during immediate meetings with ambassadors of several European countries, as well as with representatives of the United States and other international partners, we emphasized the urgent need to take effective measures to ensure the security of hydrocarbon transportation, including along maritime routes, in full compliance with international law,"
The Foreign Ministry stressed that Kazakhstan is not a party to any armed conflict and plays an important role in global and European energy security, ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies in accordance with international norms. It also noted that the affected tankers held all required permits and were equipped with standard identification systems.
The MFA warned that the growing frequency of such incidents points to increasing risks for international energy infrastructure.
"We therefore call upon our partners to engage in close cooperation to develop joint measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future,"
