Two Kazakh airlines have announced changes to a number of flight routes due to Iran's temporary closure of its airspace, QazMonitor reports.

Air Astana has announced that the changes will affect flights to Sharm el-Sheikh, Dubai, Doha, and Medina. Flights will be rerouted to avoid Iranian territory.

“Air Astana is closely monitoring the situation. We ask passengers to check the status of their flights, as changes in departure and arrival times at destination airports are expected,” the company said in a statement.

Low-cost carrier FlyArystan, in turn, announced that the restrictions will affect two flights scheduled for January 17: Atyrau-Doha and Aktau-Dubai. The airline is considering alternative routes bypassing Iranian airspace.

On January 15, Iran closed its airspace to all flights, except for international flights operating under special permission. The restrictions were lifted about five hours later.
