President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has approved the date of a nationwide referendum, QazMonitor reports, citing the Akorda press service.

President Tokayev signed a decree scheduling the republican referendum for March 15, 2026.

The referendum will put forward the draft of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution with the following question: “Do you accept the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the draft of which was published in the mass media on February 12, 2026?”

The preparation and conduct of the referendum have been assigned to the Central Election Commission, as well as territorial and precinct election commissions. The government, jointly with the Central Election Commission and other state and local bodies, is tasked with ensuring the organization of the vote and all necessary measures for holding the referendum.

The decree enters into force from the date of its official publication.
