A teacher from Kazakhstan’s capital is providing free online Kazakh language lessons to children living in Europe, QazMonitor reports.

Gulzazira Bekbolatkyzy, a Kazakh language and literature teacher at School No. 104 “Keleshek Mektebi” in Astana, has organized free online classes for Kazakh children residing abroad, primarily in the Netherlands and Germany.

The initiative began after her professional development trip to Germany in 2023, where she observed strong interest among children in learning their native language. Since 2024, she has been conducting weekly Sunday lessons alongside her full-time teaching position.

During the classes, students study the Kazakh language while also learning about national culture, traditions and oral literature. Bekbolatkyzy incorporates various teaching methods, including role-playing games, creative assignments, memorization of poems, proverbs and sayings, comic drawing and family discussions. Students receive certificates for successfully completing assignments.
