Ramazan Ainegov, a member of the Kazakhstan triathlon team, took second place at the Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
The competition was held in the “super sprint” discipline. Kazakhstan was represented by two athletes: Ramazan Ainegov, who finished second, and Artyom Bedrin, who took seventh place.
The gold medal went to Li Yansong from China, and the podium was completed by Kang Woohyeon from South Korea.
Kazakhstan’s team at the Games will consist of 220 young athletes competing for medals in 20 sports. At the previous Asian Youth Games, the country won 13 medals, including one gold.
The total number of participants at the Games exceeds 8,000, representing 45 National Olympic Committees. The competitions began on October 19 and will run until October 31.
