Kazakhstan currently has 7,432 football fields, including 1,420 that require renovation, Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabossynov announced during a government meeting on sports infrastructure development.

The minister noted an additional need for 1,694 fields. To address this, a plan for building children’s football fields has been approved, with 685 projects already underway financed by local budgets and private investments.

There are 14 regional boarding sports schools for talented children across 13 regions, and another seven are planned to open. In Atyrau Region, the first stage of PPP procedures for new facilities has been completed, with the agreement expected in December 2025.

Infrastructure for athletes with special needs remains a priority. A new sports hall funded by Freedom Shapagat was opened in Oral. In Aktobe, a sports complex with a swimming pool and training halls is under construction and set to open in December 2025. Design work for a sports complex in Taldykorgan has been completed.

A youth sports school was completed in Zerenda village. Construction continues on three facilities: Munaitpasov Stadium in Astana, a sports complex in Almaty Region, and a multifunctional center in Kokshetau. Applications totaling 39.2 billion tenge for six additional facilities are under review by the national budget commission.

Rural infrastructure development includes 23 modular sports halls to be completed this year. Additionally, 130 children’s sports halls have been opened as part of a charitable initiative. Four community sports and education centers have already opened in Kosshy, Pavlodar, Karaganda, and Almaty.

Sports infrastructure coverage reached 55.1% in 2024, with plans to increase it to 65% by 2029.
