Doping Test of Zhanibek Alimkhanuly: Boxing Federation Issues Statement

A repeat hearing in the case involving Kazakh professional boxer Zhanibek Alimkhanuly has been scheduled for January 23 following public discussion of a positive doping test result, QazMonitor reports.

Commenting on the situation, Rahimzhan Erdenbekov, President of the Kazakhstan Professional Boxing Federation, said that the Federation’s Disciplinary Commission has already held an initial hearing.

“At this stage, it became clear that the case cannot be considered in a formal manner and requires additional medical, expert, and legal evaluation. In this regard, a decision was made to schedule a repeat hearing on January 23 — this is standard international practice in complex doping cases.”

He stressed that a positive doping test result alone does not establish intent or significant fault on the part of the athlete.

According to Erdenbekov, the Commission will refrain from drawing final conclusions until all procedures have been completed.

“All decisions will be made exclusively on the basis of facts, in compliance with principles of fairness and international standards. The repeat hearing is scheduled for January 23,” he said.
