Elena Rybakina confidently advanced to the third round of the Australian Open 2026 after defeating France’s Varvara Gracheva (No. 77 WTA) 7:5, 6:2, QazMonitor reports.

The match lasted 1 hour and 17 minutes. Rybakina recorded five aces, committed no double faults, and converted five of seven break points. In the third round, the Kazakhstani player will face Czech tennis player Tereza Valentova.

In the men’s draw, Kazakhstan’s team leader Alexander Bublik reached the third round of the Australian Open for the first time in his career, defeating Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics (No. 54 ATP) 7:5, 6:4, 7:5. The victory marked the 195th win of Bublik’s professional career. His next opponent will be Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Yulia Putintseva, currently ranked 94th in the world, also advanced to the third round after beating France’s Elsa Jacquemot (No. 60 WTA) 6:1, 6:2 in the second round. Her next match will be against Turkey’s Zeynep Sonmez (No. 112 WTA).

Another Kazakhstani player, Anna Danilina, is also competing in Melbourne. Meanwhile, Alexander Shevchenko ended his Australian Open campaign in the second round after losing to American Learner Tien (No. 29 ATP) 2:6, 7:5, 1:6, 0:6.
