Shooter Sofiya Shulzhenko Wins Two Golds at Asian Championship

Kazakh athlete sets world and Asian records in air rifle event

Kazakh shooter Sofiya Shulzhenko won gold medals in both individual and team events at the Asian Shooting Championship in Delhi, QazMonitor reports.

The championship brought together athletes from 20 countries. Kazakhstan’s national team has already secured two gold medals at the tournament.

In the women’s individual final of the 50m air rifle, three positions event, Shulzhenko scored 358.2 points, setting a new world and Asian record. The result is recognized in both senior and junior categories. Eight athletes qualified for the final stage of the competition.

Silver and bronze medals in the event were claimed by shooters from India.

In the team competition, Kazakhstan was represented by Sofia Shulzhenko, Arina Malinovskaya and Elizaveta Bezrukova. The Kazakh team finished first with a total score of 1,760 points.

The Asian Championship in Delhi is held across three age categories — seniors, youth and juniors. A total of 320 athletes are competing in the 2026 edition of the tournament. Kazakhstan is represented by 47 shooters, with Olga Dovgun serving as head coach of the senior national team.

The championship runs until February 13.
