The international event brought together representatives from Europe and Central Asia to discuss empowering women in tourism
Almaty is hosting the first Regional Conference of UN Tourism dedicated to advancing women’s empowerment in the tourism industry. The event, organized by UN Tourism and the Almaty Tourism Bureau, gathered representatives of governments, businesses, and international organizations from Europe and Central Asia.
Kazakhstan is an active participant in Centre Stage, UN Tourism’s flagship initiative aimed at promoting women’s leadership and addressing gender inequality in tourism. The program includes training for 200 specialists, an awareness campaign, and new support measures for women entrepreneurs.
“Women are shaping the future of sustainable tourism in Kazakhstan and across the region. Through the Centre Stage program, we are empowering women entrepreneurs and professionals with the skills, support, and confidence they need to lead the way,” said UN Tourism Executive Director Zoritsa Urosevic.
Deputy Head of Almaty’s Tourism Department Akmaral Yeshanova noted that the conference represents the city’s contribution to global efforts for equal opportunities and sustainable tourism and will have a tangible impact on the industry.
