In 2025, Almaty is actively developing its mountain tourism infrastructure – the city administration has shared the latest data. Digital mapping now covers over 1,000 km of mountain trails, with more than 750 km improved with signage, information boards, rest platforms, railings, and tactile elements. Seven camping zones have been created, along with printed and digital tourist support materials.
Priority projects include trails to Kok-Zhailau, Nurlatau, Butakovka, the People’s Trail, Panorama, and Kimasar. The Alma-Arasan thermal spring and a 775-meter pedestrian trail have been fully renovated.
To enhance accessibility, atlases, maps, and brochures are available in three languages, including Braille, and an audio guide covering over 110 tourist sites across 10 routes is being developed in five languages.
The development of infrastructure and digital services makes Almaty a safer and more attractive destination for outdoor enthusiasts, supports eco-tourism, and increases tourist loyalty. Visitors are reminded to follow safety rules and use appropriate equipment.
