Foreign tourists spend most of their budget on dining in Kazakhstan — nearly one-third of total expenses. According to Kazakh Tourism, 27% of foreign visitors’ spending goes to restaurants and cafes, reflecting their interest in Kazakh cuisine and hospitality culture.
The breakdown of foreign tourists’ spending is as follows:
27% — dining at restaurants and cafes;
23% — accommodation;
23% — consumer goods (food, souvenirs, and locally made products);
12% — air travel;
4% — car rentals;
4% — sports and recreational activities, including cultural and sporting events;
3% — jewelry, art, and antiques.
“This spending structure highlights the tourism industry’s contribution to the development of small and medium-sized businesses and the service sector,” said Acting Chairman of the Board of JSC “NC Kazakh Tourism” Danіel Serzhanuly.
