Historic buildings in Almaty are being renovated without altering their original architectural appearance, QazMonitor reports, citing Almaty TV.
The city is reconstructing the Almaly District Akimat building and the Natalia Sats State Academic Russian Theatre for Children and Youth. Both facilities had not undergone major renovation for decades and required comprehensive modernization.
The Almaly District Akimat building, constructed in 1976, is undergoing seismic reinforcement, replacement of unsafe structural elements, and modernization of engineering systems. Historical facade details are being restored based on original designs to preserve the building’s architectural identity.
At the Natalia Sats Theatre, critical wear of structural elements and the facade has been identified. Marble and granite cladding, as well as chandeliers, are subject to restoration. At the same time, an additional building with a modern stage is being constructed.
The renovation of historical sites in Almaty is accompanied by adjustments to urban planning decisions, taking into account feedback from city residents.
