Almaty Region has strengthened its position in tourism and ranked among the top three regions in Kazakhstan by number of visitors, QazMonitor reports citing Central Communications Service.
According to Kuanyshbek Mirambekuly, head of the Almaty Region Tourism Department, speaking at a press conference at the Central Communications Service, the region has 10 tourism destinations of national significance and one of regional importance. National parks, including Kolsai Lakes National Park, Ile-Alatau National Park, and Charyn National Park, make a significant contribution to the region’s tourism profile.
According to the eQonaq database, more than 147,000 tourists visited Almaty Region in 2025. The region ranked third nationwide, behind Almaty and Astana.
In 2026, the region plans to hold more than 25 major events aimed at strengthening its international profile and increasing investment attractiveness.
